About Spewak Racing
Our Story & Vision
The idea to create a nonprofit racing team in St. Louis has been in our heads for a while.
As long-time runners and members of the Spewak Training community, we’ve seen runners fall in and out of touch with the sport for various reasons. Either their running buddies moved, or they got too busy at home, or a particularly cold winter knocked them off their routine. Especially during the pandemic, many stopped running altogether.
So we asked ourselves: what things do runners really need to stay engaged in the sport they love? We thought about all the things that have supported us through our running journeys, and a vision started to take form.
That vision became Spewak Racing.
Running requires a combination of structure and flexibility in order for it to remain a sustainable and enjoyable part of our lives. That’s the environment we’re cultivating for members of Spewak Racing. We want to give St. Louis runners a team to call their own—one that aligns with their values and fits seamlessly into their lives.
What We’re Racing Toward
Spewak Racing members race toward more than PRs—we’re running for a better St. Louis. We firmly believe that the St. Louis running community has the power to change lives and advocate for more equity and inclusivity in our region. We know that there are many people in our community that face barriers to running, so we work to remove those barriers as best we can.
Our Mission Statement
Spewak Racing is a membership-based team, inclusive of athletes of all abilities, which provides opportunities to race, train, and encourage each other every step of the way. We strive to make an impact beyond the race course by giving back to the greater St. Louis region through our event proceeds and volunteering efforts to promote health and wellness and positively change lives.
