Chain of Rocks 6k Team Feature: Arch City Running Club
We have 10 teams signed up for the inaugural Chain of Rocks 6k on Sunday, March 27th, 2022! Each week we will feature a different team. The beauty of the St. Louis running community is there are several clubs and teams you can be a part of. We are grateful for these organization’s support in our first year event. Today we highlight the Arch City Running Club!
How did ACRC come to fruition?
In 2015, Jaime started a Facebook group for a few friends called We Can Go the Distance. This group was created as a way to motivate people to train for the 2015 Rock and Roll half marathon. The half marathon came and went, and the group continued to grow. One day, Ryan mentioned to me there were 500 people in the group now... not just 12! So the name changed and Arch City Run Club was created! It's continued to grow and there are now over 1900 members in ACRC.
What's the criteria for becoming a member of the ACRC?
If you are a current runner or just THINKING about attempting to start a physical activity in the endurance world, this is your group! ACRC is a facebook exclusive 'club' that is free and truly meant to be a positive community for athletes.
What makes the St. Louis running community so special?
The sport of running lends itself to positivity and support. St. Louis has so many groups and clubs that no matter what day of the week, you can find a group to run with. I think that is truly special about St Louis. Because there are so many groups, you can try them all out until you find your kind of people! There is a group for everyone!
Anything you want to add or highlight about your group to our followers on social media?
The mission of ACRC is to provide a positive and supportive group in our community and that our members feel comfortable to ask questions and know they will be met with supportive and positive responses to support their efforts or needs.
